Amber Mark, a Grammy-nominated artist known for her talents as a singer, songwriter, and producer, has unveiled a fresh cover of Bill Withers’ classic track “Lovely Day.” This version, uniquely sanctioned by the late Bill Withers’ estate, is produced by Ryan Tedder of OneRepublic and released under PMR/Interscope Records. Mark’s cover hearkens back to her early pandemic Covered-19 series, where she creatively reinterpreted songs like Nirvana’s “Heart-Shaped Box” and Sisqo’s “Thong Song.” “Lovely Day” marks her third standalone single of 2024, following April’s soulful “Comin’ Around Again” and May’s rhythmic “Space and Time.”

Originally released in 1977, “Lovely Day” reached No. 6 on the Billboard Hot 100 and has since achieved legendary status. In 2021, Rolling Stone included it in their “Top 500 Best Songs of All Time” list, ranking it at No. 402. The song is famous for its 18-second sustained note, the longest in a Top 40 U.S. hit. Bill Withers, celebrated for other hits like “Ain’t No Sunshine,” “Just the Two of Us,” and “Lean on Me,” was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2015. He is also honored in both the Songwriting Hall of Fame and the Grammy Hall of Fame. Mark’s rendition of “Lovely Day” honors Withers’ enduring legacy, showcasing her unique style while paying tribute to his timeless influence.
