ESTA, an American DJ and record producer from Southern California, has established himself in the music industry with his eclectic blend of emotional styles, ranging from sultry R&B to experimental soul. His unique approach to music is inspired by often-overlooked sounds, such as the static from a broken radio at a flea market or the gentle whisper of wind through a balcony’s small opening. For ESTA, natural beauty doesn’t need to strive for attention; it simply exists, waiting to be discovered.

Building on a foundation of beat tapes and collaborations with artists like Kay Franklin and Mack Keane, ESTA has now released his highly anticipated debut album, Francis. This project, named after his first name, features a diverse array of guest appearances. The album opens with the high-energy single “Too Fast,” where Joyce Wrice sings about the thrill of losing control with someone special, while Duckwrth’s verses focus on the emotional intensity of deep connections, rather than physical interactions.
The track “Konnekt” shifts the mood to a more intimate setting, driven by a subtle R&B rhythm infused with glimmering synths and keys. Tone Stith’s lyrics explore the intoxicating closeness of a loved one, using imagery of smoke and touch to convey the overwhelming sensory experience of desire. In a similar vein, “Controllin” features Arin Ray’s smooth vocals over a relaxed, upbeat production, emphasizing a laid-back approach to love. Meanwhile, “Dangerous Game,” with Leon Thomas, delves into the perilous nature of love and the risk of heartbreak, perfectly complementing ESTA’s intricate production.
Other standout tracks include “Outta Space,” where Kenyon Dixon and Mack Keane address the strain of a relationship affected by distance and emotional disconnection, and “C Thru,” in which Gwen Bunn pierces through her partner’s facade against a moody, atmospheric backdrop. “Feel Safe,” featuring Jayla Darden, is a late ’90s-influenced highlight that captures the yearning for deep, vulnerable connections. The album concludes with “Serenity,” where Mack Keane and Brandon Banks sing about the pain of letting go of a past love, set to a simple yet catchy beat that lingers with glossy sounds and a memorable melody.
In Francis, ESTA has crafted a cohesive collection of ten tracks, each with its distinct narrative and minimal filler. His ability to weave together diverse emotional themes and musical styles sets him apart as a significant force in the music industry, promising a bright future ahead. With the too fast tour currently underway, this amazing project has us waiting for more dates in the future.
